- Army Veteran Robert Acevedo was recently awarded the Secretary’s Award for Excellence in Nursing for LPNs by Denis McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, during a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on May 1, 2024.
- Salem opens private ward
- The $8.5 million project that began in December, 2020, gutted the ward to replace multiple occupancy rooms with individual rooms for the benefit of Veteran patients, their families, and staff.

- Salem HCS had an opportunity to improve the measures associated with alcohol use disorder. Dr. Tanvi Patil uses new measurement to address the issue and help more Veterans escape the disease.

- Diffusion Marketplace is VHA’s discovery and collaboration tool built for curating VA’s promising innovations to encourage their diffusion. Many VISN 6 staff have submitted their best innovative practices for adoption.
- Kevin P. Amick selected new Salisbury Director
- VISN 6 Network Director Paul Crews announces Kevin Amick selected as new Salisbury VA HCS Director, to start in December. Amick comes to VISN 6 from the VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System in Reno, Nevada.
